Dr David Ma is a specialist orthopaedic surgeon who graduated top of his class from UNSW and completed fellowship training with the Australian Hand Surgery Society at the Fairfield Hand Unit.
Advanced international training followed: a Microsurgery Certificate from the National University Hospital Singapore and an Advanced Wrist Arthroscopy course at Prince of Wales Hospital Hong Kong — one of the leading wrist centres in the Asia-Pacific region.

Dr Ma works closely with hand therapists to triage and manage every patient as a team, so care is coordinated from the very first appointment — not just at the point of surgery.
Splinting, injection, and hand therapy are exhausted where appropriate before surgery is recommended. Many conditions improve without an operation at all.
Fellowship-trained across Sydney's three major hand units, with specialist training in microsurgery (Singapore) and advanced wrist arthroscopy (Hong Kong) — for the patients who do need surgery.
Referrals don't need to mean surgery. We triage and manage patients together with hand therapists, so early referral for conditions like trigger finger, mild carpal tunnel, or early Dupuytren's gets your patient started on the right pathway straight away — conservative management, a monitoring plan, or surgical review, as appropriate.
Dr Ma consults at Chatswood and Strathfield. Appointments can be made by contacting our rooms directly, or via a GP or specialist referral. A GP referral is recommended for Medicare rebates.
